Go see Scott Pilgrim. I just got back and it was a super enjoyable film.

I'm gonna go see the Expendables tomorrow night. icon_biggrin.gif

I want to go see it, I haven't made plans yet. I'll probably wait until next week. NPR has an interview with the creator sometime today.

You seem like a person that doesn't enjoy good things, so that's not surprising.

i hate because i come from a long line of haters

the scene was where he was like talking to his sister or something on the phone and it was a veritable barrage of rapid dialogue and quick cuts. to me it felt jarring and if that is even somewhat what the movie is like i would walk out. i'm not saying that i don't like the idea of the movie or won't give it a chance, but the scene they chose to show killed me inside

i don't enjoy movies that appear to have gilmore girls-esque dialogue spewed at 430mph to make it seem more witty, no, but we'll see how i actually feel about it after i see it

That's too bad. Scott Pilgrim is thoroughly enjoyable! The whole movie isn't like that scene, although there are a few portions where dialog is delivered somewhat rapid-fire. Usually not with cuts though.

Also: the Expendables was fantastic! It was everything I wanted in a summer action movie: short on plot, heavy on action, explosions and gunfire, and sprinkled with a decent smattering of one-liners. Go see it. I'm absolutely loving Terry Crews and Randy Couture as action movie people. Couture can actually act! (well, as much as is required for a summer action movie anyway icon_razz.gif )

wish they could have had snipes, seagal, and van damme but even without them i'm sure it's an enjoyable turn-off-your-brain classic action flick

i probably will eventually check out scott pilgrim, probably before i get through the comics

Finally saw Inception. Definitely going to take home some special effects awards, and perhaps some others. I liked how all the actors were super tan in that movie except Ellen Page who could've passed for a snowball with that make-up job.

Saw Piranha 3-D. I have a huge soft spot for grade-B horror movies, and this one delivered in spades.

I got around to seeing Scott Pilgrim!

It was excellent and I liked the movie better than what I've read of the comics (which admittedly is only the first book but I liked the movie's take on the first book's events better).

I watched "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" a.k.a. "The Men who Hate Women" tonight. It's a Swedish movie that's been getting a lot of buzz and awards, all well deserved IMO. You can get it on Netflix, either DVD or streaming. There's a dub version out though, so be careful if you are picky about that sort of thing. The version on netflix is the original Swedish language with English subtitles. Strangely enough, the torrent I have of just subtitles (they replace the subtitles in a different torrent...) are actually better than the official ones, mostly for issues of word choice.

Anyway, mystery thriller with plenty of action, sex and suspense to make an overall fantastic movie. I highly recommend this over anything else I've mentioned lately.

Just saw Girl Who Played with Fire. Lot better than the first one, things escalate much quicker/to a greater degree.

But seriously, virtually every guy in these movies is some kind of horrible rapist. It gets to be kind of silly.

Murakami's "Norwegian Wood" makes it to film: http://blogs.wsj.com/japanrealtime/2010/09...n-film-finally/. Cautiously optimistic.

Also went to see Scott Pilgrim last night: loved it. The little touches scattered throughout were wonderful - the sporadic Zelda sound effects made me especially happy. The fights though, best I've seen in a long time.

I just watched Iron Man 2.

Had a couple neat parts, a couple awesome bits, but it was ultimately pretty lame.

I don't really pay attention to celebrities or what they do unless their performance or actions make a particular impact on me in some way or another. They are ultimately useless people, so I don't really remember who's who.

The suitcase bit was fun and the entire fight lasted about a minute. As usual, Hollywood never delivers on what makes comic book movies necessary to really enjoy.
